RETURN OF THE MOONLIT

On the 16th day of the 8th lunar month (September 18th), YHA Mei Ho House Youth Hostel will host a Mid-Autumn Festival celebration titled “Return of the Moonlit.” The event will feature a giant moon decoration, nostalgic photo spots, and a series of workshops, game booths, and live music. We warmly invite you, your family, and friends to join us for a joyful moon-gazing night and enjoy the festive atmosphere in this historic building.

Use your wits to uncover the secrets of the moon, solving one riddle after another.

Japanese Matcha BYOB (Bring Your Own Bowl – BYOB) Workshop 

Bring your own bowl! Let’s celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival together with matcha at the Grade II historic building, Mei Ho House.

Instructor: Ms. Yuki Futami, a certified Japanese tea master
Time: (1) 2pm – 2:45pm / (2) 3:45pm – 4:30pm

Moon Phase Cup DIY

Beyond the full moon, the moon has many different phases. During the workshop, we will explore various moon phases, and create a beautifully glowing moon phase cup.

The mysterious box appears on Mid-Autumn Night, filled with various intriguing items. Dare to reach inside and, using only your sense of touch, can you guess what’s inside?

The Shooting Hou

To reunite with Chang’e on the moon, Hou Yi has resolved to shoot it down. Can you lend him a hand in this daring quest and help them be together again?

Moonlit Marshmallow Party

All the clouds in the sky have been turned into marshmallows! Let’s enjoy the sweetness and the cloudless moon night.

Full Moon Face Painting Night

Celebrate the full moon by becoming one of many animals at our carnival. Head over to the face painting booth and choose your favorite design!

Moonlit Prize Quest

Participate in the challenges with your game ticket for a chance to win various surprise prizes!

Live Music

Under the romantic moonlight, what could complement the wonderful melodies more perfectly? Live music will kick off the evening, accompanied by singing, as you enjoy the sunset and the moonlit night.

Important Notes:

  1. Activities will be conducted in Cantonese.
  2. Only for members of “Mei Ho House Alumni Network”, free registration can be done online or on-site.
  3. YHA Mei Ho House Youth Hostel reserves the right to alter, amend or withdraw the programmes in case of weather or special circumstances.
  4. To coincide with the Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations, the Heritage of Mei Ho House will be open until 8pm, and you are welcome to visit with your family and friends.
  5. You are welcome to bring your lanterns, mooncakes, and fruits to share and enjoy the moonlight together. Please note that no lighting of fire is allowed in the area of the Youth Hostel.
