Mei Ho House Youth Hostel Open Day is back on December 2nd and 3rd. This year, we are partnering up with LIFE Mart to host a handicraft market again, featuring a series of activities at Mei Ho House including guided tours, booth games, workshops, and hostel room visits where you can explore its rich history, cultural, architectural and humanistic significances. Come join us to discover the charm of Mei Ho House and experience our sense of nostalgia!

Heritage of Mei Ho House Public Guided Tour X Talks on the Spot X Extended Opening Hours
During the Open Day event on December 2-3, the Heritage of Mei Ho House (the Museum) will host a Cantonese public guided tour at 11am, providing participants with insights into the origin of Mei Ho House, the stories of its residents, and a visit to the revitalized youth hostel rooms. The Museum will also feature “Talks on the Spot”, highlighting the daily lives of grassroots citizens in 1950s and 70s Hong Kong. It will focus on the everyday entertainment activities of the time, including cinema, delving into the glorious era of the Hong Kong film industry. Moreover, it will explore the history and transformations of Mei Ho House, revealing the fascinating journey of this unique resettlement building.
In line with the Open Day schedule, the Museum will extend its opening hours until 8pm. Visitors are welcome to explore together the rich historical and cultural values encapsulated within this historical building!

YHA“Corner of Sham Shui Po” Community Photography Exhibition
Sham Shui Po, where the new and old converge, may seem chaotic but harbors a unique and ordered beauty. During the Open Day event, a limited exhibition will showcase 30 photos captured by the public using their smartphones, documenting the distinctive landscapes of the community. The exhibition features a voting activity, enabling visitors to choose their favorite pieces. The top three photographers from the final voting results will each receive mysterious souvenirs!

A series of brand-new designed souvenirs will be launched during the Open Day. Simply follow and like Heritage of Mei Ho House’s social media account on Instagram (@heritagemhh), and you can redeem an open-day-limited Mei Ho House transparent card. In addition, by uploading photos taken during the event to social media (posts or stories) and tagging Heritage of Mei Ho House (@heritagemhh), you will be granted one of the limited-edition souvenirs. LIFE Mart Handicraft Market
The 2-day handicraft market will feature a wide range of activities, including booths, workshops, nostalgic snaps, live music performances, and mini games. Don’t miss out on this fun-filled weekend.

Hostel Room Tour | From the H-shaped Resettlement Block to Youth Hostel
The H-shaped Mei Ho House, which had undergone renovation works during the 70s, is now revitalized into a youth hostel. During the Open Day, different types of hostel rooms including Double Room, Family Room and 8-Person Dormitory Bed are open for visitors, allowing visitors to see the transformation of the historic building.
