“VIBRANT HK@YHA MEI HO HOUSE” ROUNDED OFF WITH GREAT SUCCESS
THE MURAL PROJECT OF YHA MEI HO HOUSE YOUTH HOSTEL “VIBRANT HK @ YHA MEI HO HOUSE AT THE STAIRCASE AREA OF THE MIDDLE BLOCK, WITH FREE PAINT SPONSORED BY DULUX, WAS ROUNDED OFF WITH GREAT SUCCESS IN EARLY JULY
The mural project of YHA Mei Ho House Youth Hostel “Vibrant HK @ YHA Mei Ho House” at the staircase area of the middle block, with free paint sponsored by Dulux, was rounded off with great success in early July. Under the guidance of Ms Candice Keung, a local multimedia artist, a total of 90 visual arts students from six secondary schools and 20 volunteers from Alumni network participated in this project.
With the creativity and great effort of every participating school teacher and student, the most authentic sides of Hong Kong are highlighted in the painting, attracting many hostellers to stop by and take pictures with it. The popular fresh new local band “NewYouthBarberShop” also came to visit and take pictures in front of their names painted on the mural.
Not only do we look forward to a stronger bonding with the community by involving talented teenagers in the project, we also intend to promote environmental conservation by encouraging hostellers to use the staircase instead of the elevators.
HKYHA is truly grateful for the generous support from our sponsor “Dulux”, Ms Candice Keung (multimedia artist) and the six secondary schools including (In alphabetical order) Pooi To Middle School, SKH All Saints’ Middle School, Tack Ching Girls’ Secondary School, The Yuen Yuen Institute No.3 Secondary School, Tong Kwok Wah Secondary School and Ying Wa Girls’ School and 20 volunteers from Alumni network to turn the project into a success. In future, HKYHA will continue to organize different kinds of art and cultural activities, striving to bring more quality education to the public.
