Open days of YHA Mei Ho house Youth Hostel will organised free to the public.

Hong Kong Youth Hostels Association (YHA) was selected as a partner of the Batch 1 of the “Revitalising Historic Buildings Through Partnership Scheme” to preserve and transform“Mei Ho House”, Hong Kong’s first and only remaining 6-storey resettlement block and a listed Grade 2 Historic building, into “YHA Mei Ho House Youth Hostel. This new hostel is going to be YHA’s first city hostel. A livelihood museum “Heritage of Mei Ho House” has been built within the hostel to catalogue the history of Shek Kip Mei resettlement estates and showcase the evolution of Hong Kong public housing.

With the professional advice from the experts and support from members of Mei Ho House Alumni Network in terms of oral history and artifacts contribution, the revitalisation of Mei Ho House has not only preserved the living function of the building but also retained the precious memory of former residents, as well as demonstrated the resilience and community bonding of the last generation.

YHA Mei Ho House Youth Hostel Open Day will be held on 22nd October (2:00pm – 5:30pm) and 23rd October (9:30am – 5:30pm). All members of the public are welcomed to attend with free admission.

The soft launch of the hostel will start on 24 October. Details of room reservation will be announced soon. Please stay tune to YHA’s website.
