  • Types of membership
    International Junior Membership

    Hong Kong residents (holders of Hong Kong Identity Card or Hong Kong Birth Certificate) aged 5 to 17 are eligible for membership.

    International Senior Membership

    Hong Kong residents (holders of Hong Kong Identity Card) aged 18 or above are eligible for membership.

    International Senior Membership (Non-Hong Kong residents)

    Non-Hong Kong residents or overseas travellers aged 5 or above may apply for membership in their own country’s youth hostel associations, or visit the HKYHA office/hostels to apply for the Hostelling International Card.

    * Expired membership must be renewed within two months following the expiry date. After that, members are required to re-apply for membership.

  • Validity
    Junior Membership

    One year (until the end of the calendar month).

    Senior Membership

    Further divided into one-year, two-year, three-year and permanent. Membership expires on the last day of the membership card issuing month (not applicable to life membership).

    Members must renew their membership within two months after the expiry date (the end of the calendar month). Those who fail to do so are required to re-apply for membership. Renewed membership is valid for 12 months from the expiry month of the old membership.

  • Membership Application/Renewal

    You can apply for HKYHA membership in the following ways. Members must renew their membership, also in the following ways, within two months after the expiry date (the end of the calendar month). Those who fail to do so are required to re-apply for membership. Renewed membership is valid for 12 months from the expiry month of the old membership.

  • Required documents (Non-online application)
    1. Completed Membership Application Form
    2. Copy of HKID card
    3. Membership fee (cash/crossed cheque/Credit Card Payment Form)
    4. Return envelope affixed with a HK$ 2.0 stamp (applicable to postal application only)
    • Membership cards will be issued immediately to members applying for membership in person. For all other application methods, the membership card will be sent by post to the member’s correspondence address within 14 working days.
    •  If you are applying for membership through the post, please mark on the envelope “Individual Membership Application”. Please do not send cash in the post.
    • Cheques should be crossed and made payable to “Hong Kong Youth Hostels Association”.
